Creating a list
-
Can I re-use a reading list from a previous teaching period?
Yes, reading lists can be rolled over (or reused) for new teaching periods. On the Course Readings welcome page in your course, select 鈥楥reate list from an existing list鈥 and search for the previous version of the course. The reading list will be rolled over to your new course.
If you are new to teaching a course and do not have access to the previous reading list, please email the Course Readings team. The team can roll over the list on your behalf.
Hit 鈥楶ublish鈥 after you have edited and updated the list to make visible to students and to allow the Library to begin processing requests (e.g., move to high use or digitisation). Enrol in the course and view the page for more information.
-
Why can't I see the welcome page to create a list?
This is because there is already a list for your topic. This may have been created by the Library to list High Use items, or by one of your collaborators. Add items to the existing list as needed.
Adding items to a list
-
Why can't I see the blue "+Add" button?
We may not have you associated with the list as an instructor. Please contact us at听liaisonlibs@adelaide.edu.au.
-
Can I upload a file of the required pages?
Yes. Drag the file to upload it against the citation.
NOTE:听All uploaded files must comply with copyright regulations. If the file is third party material, it must be checked by the Course Readings team.
-
What is the Favourites collection?
The Favourites collection is your own personal Course Readings library. Resources saved in Favourites can be reused across multiple readings lists. You can also add items to Favourites using the 'Cite it' browser tool.
See the course for further details.
-
Will I infringe Copyright if I ... ?
The Library will check copyright compliance while processing your list. For more information about copyright, take a look at our听Copyright Advice听website - particularly the information regarding听teaching purposes.
-
Why doesn't the link in Course Readings go straight to the chapter of the ebook?
You may like to听add instructions听advising students which chapter to read. Enrol in the course and view the page for more information.
-
What if I want to set a whole print book as a required or recommended reading, how do I communicate this?
If you require a print book for your course, and do not need digitisation of the material, add a 'No Digitization Required' tag to the item. You can also add a tag to request to move the print item to the Library's High Use collection. See听听for more information.
Enrol in the course and view the听听page for more information.
-
My course only has a textbook. Does this affect me?
Yes. Create a Course Readings list and add the textbook to your list. The textbook needs to be tagged as 鈥淭extbook鈥. Items tagged as a textbook are automatically moved to High Use so you don鈥檛 need to tag 鈥淢ove to high use鈥.
Enrol in the 听course and view the听听page for more information.
Adding requests to items
-
If I think the library has scanned the pages already, do I need to put in another digitisation request?
No. Edit the citation, changing the Type to book chapter and add the chapter title.
-
When would I use the Inter Library Loan required tag?
Use the tag when the Library, or yourself, cannot supply a scan from a print source.
-
Why can't I see the option to place a digitisation request?
Your reading list may not be associated with a course. Please contact us at听liaisonlibs@adelaide.edu.au.
-
Can I ask for digitisation of more than 2 sets of page ranges from a book?
Yes. You may add the first two in the Pages boxes of the digitisation request form. Add any more page ranges as a Note.
