In applications for some research funding schemes, it may be appropriate to discuss your h-index, which is a measure of your research productivity and impact.听

How do I find my h-index?听听

  • : Do an听听for yourself. The Author Record page will include your h-index.听

  • : Do an听Author Search听for yourself by selecting the Author tab. The Author Details page will include your h-index.听

  • Google Scholar: Your Google Scholar Profile includes your h-index. (You can听听if you don鈥檛 already have one.)听

  • Aurora: Your Aurora profile shows your h-index听automatically (see the听Aurora ).听

Why听is my h-index听different听on each of these platforms?听Web of Science, Scopus, and Google Scholar each use/collect slightly different data 鈥 they are different citation 鈥渦niverses鈥.听

Which of my h-index numbers should I use?听You should use whichever one is the highest, stating where it came from. E.g. H-index = 15 (Google Scholar).听

Author reports听

You can view an overall report of your impact as an author on a number of different platforms, if you have created profiles for those platforms.听These reports generally include your h-index, academic/international collaborations, percentages of your papers that are highly cited or published in top quartile/percentile journals, and your output benchmarked against a regional/global standard (InCites听and SciVal).听
