Printing
Printing
In 2024, ITDS rolled out new printers across the ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlog. The printers can be accessed by staff and students across campuses (excluding staff-only-access printers) to print, copy and scan documents.Ìý

Using a Printer
To print a document:Ìý
1. In the print menu, selectÌý'Follow-You-Print-Q'Ìýas the printer queue, select the desired options and click 'Print'.
2. Release your prints by tapping onto the printer with your ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlog ID card or using the interface to manually enter your credentials (a-number and password). The first time you tap on, you may be prompted to manually enter your credentials.Note.ÌýThis process is now a ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlog-wide policy from the Vice-Chancellor.
3. Log out of the printer by pressing the ‘Exit door’ icon in the top right of the interface (not the similar-looking icon in the bottom left of the interface, as that won’t correctly log you out).

Important details about the printers
-
If the printer interface displays ‘Connection failed’ (due to a network issue or a recent power outage), reboot the printer by turning it off (for 30 seconds) and back on again using the power switch on the right-hand side of the printer. If the problem persists, raise a ticket via the form.Ìý
-
If Follow-You-Print-Q isn’t the default selection when printing, follow the guide.Ìý
-
If you see ‘low toner’ warnings, don't remove and shake the toner cartridges as that can disrupt the automatic toner ordering system. Just wait for the new cartridge to arrive from the supplier.Ìý
-
Only use when printing labels, pamphlets and envelopes. Also, only use full label sheets when printing labels (sheets with missing labels may damage the printer).Ìý
-
When printing on thicker paper (up to 300 GSM) use the printer’s bypass tray rather than the main trays.Ìý
-
The printer stapler can only staple a maximum of 50 pages at a time. If your print exceeds that limit, it won’t be stapled and you will need to use another device to staple it (e.g. a binding machine).Ìý
-
To scan a double-sided document, go to ‘Scan’ on the interface, select ‘Settings’ and then ‘2-sided’ as the duplex mode.Ìý
-
The ‘Scan to Email’ function only allows you to email the resultant scan to yourself (not other ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlog staff, students or external people). This security measure ensures the sending of scans is traceable and doesn’t inadvertently clog print queues with large documents.Ìý
-
The ‘Scan to OneDrive’ function allows you to scan a document directly to your personal OneDrive folder so you can access it digitally from your device. Refer to the guide for details.Ìý
-
The UBS ports on the printer have been disabled and cannot be used to print documents. This security measure eliminates the potential for cyber attacks through those ports.Ìý
