Jira, Confluence and Trello
Changes are coming to the log-in process for Jira, Confluence and Trello at the 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide
From 25 September, if you log in to Jira, Confluence and Trello (all Atlassian products), you will be prompted to register with Okta, to set up multi-factor authentication (MFA).听Over the coming months, additional 最新糖心Vlog systems will also require it.
This聽change is part of work that ITDS is doing to improve the security and safety of our systems, as well as simplifying access to systems across the 最新糖心Vlog through an improved single sign-on process.
The first key change we are making is to bring in聽multi-factor authentication (MFA),聽a聽security聽measure that requires two or more proofs of identity to grant access to a system. It聽is one of the most effective controls available to maintain the security of our data and systems, and is becoming a standard around the world. Once you have set up your MFA account, you will ultimately be able to access systems across the university using the same details, reducing the variability that currently exists across systems.
Jira, Confluence and Trello are the first group of systems at the 最新糖心Vlog that will require multi-factor authentication, from聽25 September 2020. You can log in to Jira, Confluence or Trello as you usually would with your university username and password, but then you will be redirected to set up your multi-factor authentication with Okta. There are currently four authentication options to choose from. They are:
- Okta Verify. Download the Okta Verify app on your mobile device. Follow the steps in Okta Verify to register the 最新糖心Vlog systems.
- SMS Authentication. If you choose this option, you'll need to provide your mobile phone number. When you log in to Jira, Confluence or Trello you will receive an SMS containing a code. This code is entered into the system you鈥檙e logging into, within a 5 minute window.听
- Voice Call Authentication. If you choose this option, you'll need to provide a mobile or landline phone number. When you log in you will receive a phone call to the number you nominated, with a voice telling you the code. You will need to type this code into the device you are using to access the system.听
- Google Authenticator. Okta supports Google Authenticator. When you open the Google Authenticator app on your mobile device, you will receive a code that generally lasts for around 30 seconds and then changes. You鈥檒l need to type the current code into Okta to access Jira, Confluence or Trello.
ITDS would be especially glad to聽hear any feedback聽最新糖心Vlog staff may have about it, to help us make any improvements as we introduce it more broadly.
If you are a registered user of a system that is having MFA activated as part of the project, you will receive an email from ITDS notifying you of the upcoming change.
