Snacking

Yoghurt pot with fruit

Yoghurt pot

What鈥檚 your go-to snack? I usually reach for a banana or an apple when I鈥檓 peckish in between meals.

I am starting to feel a bit bored with it though which then leads me to spend on a snack that鈥檚 less nutritious and satisfying. As far as procrastination goes, I try and make sure it鈥檚 a snack that鈥檚 already prepared so that I don鈥檛 use 鈥渟nack preparation鈥 to delay thesis-writing.

I鈥檝e compiled a bit of a list here听after collecting suggestions from other students.听

  • Nuts and dried fruit - make your own trail mix; easy and convenient.
  • Protein or energy balls - a great filling snack and lots of easy recipes online.
  • Apples and peanut butter - I haven鈥檛 tried this, but it sounds really sweet and yummy, perfect when in need of a sugar hit.
  • Tuna - easy and if canned, can keep in your study drawer for a while. Make sure you look up brands that follow sustainable practices.
  • Greek yoghurt and bananas - sweet and filling听but also packed with protein and potassium which is good for brain work.
  • Dark chocolate-covered nuts - yes, treat yourself!
  • Reheatable egg muffins - they鈥檙e egg cups that you can prepare the day before and can be easily microwaved in the office kitchen. Free of carbs and full of nutrition, they are also not expensive to make.听
  • Smoked salmon on whole-grain crackers - add an avo if you鈥檇 like a heavier snack.
  • Hard-boiled eggs - protein!
  • Brie and grapes - yummy, indulging snack.
  • Chia pudding - you can make several variations of this using fruit or cocoa powder
  • Cheesy spinach quinoa cups

What else could you suggest that I can add to my list?

To keep the body in good health is a duty, otherwise we will not be able to keep our mind strong and clear.Buddha
