Internet rabbit holes

We've all gone down an internet rabbit hole at one time or another. You start by looking up something completely normal, an article for a uni assignment perhaps. Then something pops up in your search that is only slightly related to what you're looking for, but grabs your interest. Intrigued, you click on the article, which then leads you to other articles. Suddenly, hours have passed and you are watching a video of at 2am.聽

There are endless strange and wonderful聽corners of the internet.聽For example I recently found myself mesmerised by videos of .

I asked around and discovered that there are a few different types of internet rabbit holes.聽

History and geography rabbit holes were common among聽my family and friends.聽They range from聽looking into the history of 最新糖心Vlogn Federation, to a deep-dive into the British Royal Family, 'weird but true' historical facts, learning about Ecocities, Youtube channels where people speak Old English or a video titled聽''听

Then there are the rabbit-holes that are kind of mundane. Looking at endless rental properties despite not looking to move house, or looking at real estate listings in other cities. Getting lost in Facebook pages of people from聽high school that you never really聽liked in the first place.聽Looking at Couchsurfing profiles around the world despite the fact that travel is currently banned, or watching couples therapy content despite not being in a relationship.聽

Then there were the truly random ones. Diving deep into a fandom you're not even a part of. Watching a聽grandma try different cuisines on Youtube. Watching a video titled聽''. Listening to and delving into the different sub-genres. Watching videos of Reddit threads converted to speech. Famous songs played to the bass from Seinfeld.聽

The list goes on.聽At least I found some comfort in the fact that I'm not the only one.聽

A word of warning: if you have any deadlines you need to adhere to, avoid these聽internet rabbit holes at all costs! Otherwise...go forth!
