Overanalysis

Some people have said that I have a tendency to overanalyse things. What鈥檚 interesting is that I had it suggested to me that this may be causing me to make problems where they don鈥檛 need to exist. So, naturally I鈥檓 going to overanalyse that idea to see what I can do with it.

I tend to look into things as closely as I possibly can. My reason for doing this is that I think that the first step聽to doing anything is to understand it. What this also means is that I tend to see more problems than I otherwise would. If you focus on anything for long enough, you鈥檙e bound to find something wrong with it. If you look at a word for long enough it may start to sound wrong, even if it鈥檚 always seemed so normal.

So if I focus on those issues, maybe it means that I fill my life with issues that I don鈥檛 have to. I like to think that just because I notice an issue in something, doesn鈥檛 mean I don鈥檛 keep it in perspective. Overanalysing things doesn鈥檛 just mean I notice more faults in things, it also means I can appreciate all of the positive aspects.

Since I鈥檓 overanalysing what other people have told me about my overanalysing, does that just go to show that I really do have a problem? Maybe it shows that I don鈥檛 have a problem, because I鈥檓 able to reflect on myself constructively and examine my behaviour? I鈥檓 not just overanalysing myself and finding negatives, I鈥檓 balancing it against the positives. As long as I remember to keep doing that, I think my tendency to overanalyse is going to be okay.
