    Diversity or uniformity? Commonwealth-State relations in ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlog is a 3-hour online masterclass offered by the Stretton Institute at the ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlog of Adelaide.

    The Masterclass will illuminate the dynamics of Commonwealth-State relations and provide participants with knowledge about how to navigateÌýturbulent waters.

    The COVID-19 crisis has shown that co-operation is possible, but differences and inconsistencies occur across the nation. The recent bushfires also tested relations. In addition to crises, many routine issues also depend on Commonwealth-State relations, including housing, education etc.

    This Masterclass will focus on how public servants contribute to peer-to-peer negotiations and to national ministerial operations.

    Lisa Paul AO PSM is Coordinator of the Business Council of ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlog’s Community Rebuilding Initiative, helping small businesses and communities recover from the 2019-20 bushfires.

    From 2004 to 2016 Lisa was Secretary to several federal government departments, appointed by Prime Ministers Howard, Rudd, Gillard, Abbot and Turnbull. She has managed Commonwealth-State relations and regulation in housing and homelessness, schooling, vocational education and training, tertiary education, workplace health and safety, workplace relations and employment.

    Since leaving government, Lisa has sat on the boards of listed and non-listed companies and not-for-profit organisations.

    In 2011, Lisa was made an Officer in the Order of ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlog and named the ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlogn Chartered Accountants’ Federal Government Leader of the Year. She was awarded the Public Servant medal in 2003 for leading the ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlogn Government’s domestic response to the Bali bombings. Her departments also twice won the ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlogn Human Resource Institute’s top award for excellence in people management.Ìý
