  • Adelaide Dental School and Colgate Palmolive Prize for the Bachelor of Oral Health

    This Prize have been established by Colgate-Palmolive Pty Ltd for the Adelaide Dental School acknowledging students who are undertaking studies in its Bachelor of Oral Health program.Ìý

    To be eligible for the Prize candidates must have successfully completed the third year of the Bachelor of Oral Health in the year for which the Prize is awarded.

  • Adelaide Nursing School Charlotte Champion de Crespigny Prize

    Details Value

    This Prize has been established by The ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlog of Adelaide’s Adelaide Nursing School in honour of Professor Charlotte Champion de Crespigny. ÌýProfessor de Crespigny was a member of staff in the Adelaide Nursing School from 2009 to 2017, and after her retirement she remained involved with research within the School as an Adjunct Professor.Ìý

    Professor de Crespigny was awarded a Member of the Order of ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlog in 2018 for her significant service to nursing, and nurse education, and for bridging the divide between the medical profession and some of ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlog’s most vulnerable, including her work particularly in the field of drug and alcohol care, and with remote Aboriginal communities and with prisoners.Ìý

    To be eligible for the Prize candidates must have successfully completed their Bachelor of Nursing program in the year for which the Prize is being awarded.

    The Prize shall be awarded annually to the candidate who demonstrated academic and clinical excellence regarding nursing people with mental health, alcohol and other drug related conditions. ÌýThe winning candidate will be selected by the Adelaide Nursing School’s Learning and Teaching Committee.

  • Adelaide Nursing School Pearson Prize

    Details Value

    This Prize has been established by The ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlog of Adelaide’s Adelaide Nursing School in honour of Emeritus Professor Pearson in acknowledgement of his outstanding contribution to the nursing profession, his role in founding the discipline, and through the work of the Joanna Briggs Institute at the ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlog of Adelaide, which he established.Ìý

    To be eligible for the Prize candidates must have successfully completed their Graduate Diploma in Nursing program in the year for which the Prize is awarded.

    The Prize shall be awarded annually to the candidate with the highest weighted average mark for the program stated above.

  • Adelaide Nursing School Robert Graf Prize

    This Prize has been established by The ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlog of Adelaide’s Adelaide Nursing School in honour of Robert Graf, who despite significant challenges, was one of the most conscientious students and peer of the ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlog Preregistration Program.   • Adelaide Nursing School Roshan Encouragement Award

    Details Value

    This Prize has been established by The ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlog of Adelaide’s Adelaide Nursing School in honour of Master of Clinical Nursing student, Roshan Wijeratne, who came to ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlog to better his and his family’s lives. ÌýHe had the courage and determination to make a life in ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlog, and this commitment included a change of career. Unfortunately, in his first semester of study within the program he was involved in a tragic road bike accident.Ìý

    This award honours Roshan and his family’s commitment to have the courage to make a new life.Ìý

    The value of the Prize shall be $1,000 and a teapot. ÌýThe teapot is to honour a Sri Lankan tradition of tea and Roshan’s culture.

    To be eligible for the Prize candidates must have successfully completed a Master of Clinical Nursing program in the year for which the Prize is awarded.

    The Prize shall be awarded annually to the candidate who has demonstrated the greatest improvement in their academic performance between Semester 1 and Semester 4 study, as evidenced by the Grade Point Average for these semesters.

  • Alice Davey Award

    Details Value

    In 1997, Dr K R and Mrs M S Davey paid a donation to the ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlog of Adelaide to establish The Alice Davey Award, in memory of their late daughter, Alice Grace Davey, who died of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome in 1994. This was supplemented by another gift in 2015 towards the fund.Ìý

    To be eligible for the Award candidates must be individuals or members of a research team who are, or who were at the time of undertaking the research, students, staff members or titleholders of the ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlog of Adelaide and shall:-
    a. have contributed the most meritorious, recognised scholarly work relevant to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome research or chronic/life threatening paediatric illnesses; or
    b. be deemed to have the potential to make a significant contribution to the field of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome research or chronic/life threatening paediatric illnesses.
    in the year for which the Award is awarded.

    Applicants will be required to provide a brief statement outlining the significance of the research contribution, or potential contribution, to the advancement of knowledge in the field of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome or chronic/life threatening paediatric illnesses.

  • Alicia Rose Doherty Prize

    This Prize has been established by donations to the ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlog from family and friends of Alicia Rose Doherty including her husband, Aaron James Doherty in memory of his wife and academic staff member, Professor Anthony (Tony) Thomas and his wife Dr Joan Thomas in memory of their daughter, the late Alicia Rose Doherty who was an alumna of the ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlog.Ìý
    Because of Alicia's background in psychology (Honours at ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlog of Adelaide and Masters at ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlog of South ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlog) and her work with Indigenous people in the Northern Territory, the intent of the Prize is to encourage students of Indigenous background to complete studies in psychology with the aim of encouraging them to become a registered psychologist. The term Indigenous is to be interpreted liberally, to include Torres Strait Islanders and those of Maori background.Ìý

    Applicants must have completed an ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlogn Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) accredited degree at any ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlog and be either:
    • an Indigenous student at third year level; or
    • an Indigenous student completing an APAC accredited Honours degree or a Master of Psychology at the ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlog of Adelaide or equivalent.

    If an applicant cannot be identified who fulfils the requirement for Indigenous status, applicants from a non-Indigenous background who are studying or working in an Indigenous field will be considered.Ìý

    Applications will be assessed based on academic achievement.

    If there is more than one candidate of equal merit, then the Prize may be shared equally.

  • AMSS President's Research Award

    Details Value

    This Award was established in 1992 from a generous donation from Dr Ram S Tulsi, who wished to initiate the ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlogn Medical Student's Society President's Research Award for excellence in research executed by undergraduate medical students. The object of the award is to encourage undergraduate medical students to pursue excellence in scientific biomedical research.Ìý

    The award acknowledges excellence in medical research on the basis of a scientific communication published in a refereed biomedical journal in the period since the last AMSS Award was made.Ìý

    To be eligible for the prize candidates must have been enrolled in the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, Bachelor of Medical Studies, or Doctor of Medicine programs at the ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlog of Adelaide in the year in which the Prize is awarded.

    The Prize shall be awarded annually to the candidate who is deemed to have submitted the most outstanding scientific communication published in a referred biomedical journal.

  • Anna Florence Booth Prize

    Details Value

    In 1940, Sydney Russell Booth donated funds to the ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlog to found, with the income thereof, a Prize in memory of his wife, to be called the 'Anna Florence Booth Prize'.

    To be eligible for the Prize candidates must have successfully completed the Master of Psychology program of study at the ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlog of Adelaide and have submitted their thesis in the year for which the Prize is awarded. The student's thesis must be on an aspect of psychology which addresses a social problem in the wider community.

    The Prize shall be awarded annually to the candidate who submits the best thesis in psychology which addresses a social problem in the wider community.

  • Anthony McMichael & David Shearman Prize

    Details Value

    This award was established by Doctors for the Environment ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlog in honour of the seminal work in climate change and its impacts on human health by former ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlog of Adelaide professors, Tony McMichael and David Shearman.

    A perpetual plaque accompanies this prize, which is administered by the Adelaide Medical School.

    To be eligible for this prize, candidates must be a sixth-year student who has completed Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) programs at the ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlog of Adelaide for which the prize is being awarded.

    The prize shall be awarded annually to the eligible candidate who throughout the medical program, has contributed most significantly to the cause of sustainability through advocacy, service, education and leadership.

Branch), a gift to endow a prize in memory of Austin Bazeley, a graduate of the ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlog in 1955 and active member of the Study Group before his death at age 27, for the purpose of establishing an annual Prize in the Faculty of Dentistry.Ìý

  • Barbara Meyler Memorial Prize

    In 1977, Mrs E.E.M. Wells made a donation to the ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlog for the purpose of establishing a memorial Prize in psychiatry in memory of her daughter, Dr Barbara Meyler.Ìý

    To be eligible for the Prize candidates must have successfully completed the:-
    a) fifth year of the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor Surgery program; or
    b) second year of the Doctor of Medicine program at the ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlog in the year in which the Prize is awarded.

    The Prize shall be awarded annually, to the candidate who either:
    a) Obtained the highest mark in the Social and Emotional Health term which is undertaken as a component of the assessment in the course MEDIC ST 5015 Paediatrics and Children's Health; or
    b) Obtained the highest mark in the Social and Emotional Health term which is undertaken as a component of the assessment in the course MEDIC ST 7501 Women's and Children's Health.

  • David Murray in Health & Medical Sciences Endowment

    Details Amount

    This Prize has been established by the ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlog as a result of a contribution by David Murray, late of London, England and Adelaide, Merchant and a former member of the Council of the ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlog, who died in London on 6 January 1907. David Murray bequeathed a pecuniary legacy to the ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlog of Adelaide to be applied towards the Scholarship Fund of the ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlog.

    To be eligible for the prize candidates must have successfully completed the Bachelor of Health and Medical Sciences Honours program in the year in which the Prize is awarded.

    The Prize shall be awarded annually to the candidate who achieved the most outstanding final result in the Bachelor of Health and Medical Sciences Honours program and demonstrated the most outstanding final result in line with the original intent of the prize to encourage advanced work and original investigation.

  • Dental Board of SA Prizes

    In 1967, the Dental Board of South ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlog paid the ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlog funds for the purpose of establishing two annual Prizes:-

    • The Dental Board of South ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlog Prize for the Highest Standard in the First Annual Examination; and
    • The Dental Board of South ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlog Prize for the Highest Standard in the Fourth Annual Examination.

    The fourth-year Prize was established in 1947. The first-year Prize was established in 1967.

    To be eligible for Prize candidates must have successfully completed the first year of the Bachelor of Dental Surgery in the year in which the Prize is awarded.Ìý

    To be eligible for Prize candidates must have successfully completed the fourth year of the Bachelor of Dental Surgery in the year in which the Prize is awarded.Ìý

    Dental Board of SA Prize for a First Year StudentÌý
    The Prize shall be awarded to the candidate who obtained the highest mark in the first year of the Bachelor of Dental Surgery program.

    Dental Board of SA Prize for a Fourth Year StudentÌý
    The Prize shall be awarded to the candidate who obtained the highest mark in the fourth year of the Bachelor of Dental Surgery program.

  • Dr Davies-Thomas Prizes

    Details Value

    In 1896, Mrs E Davies-Thomas gave funds to the ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlog for the purpose of founding two scholarships in the medical course to be named after the late Dr Davies-Thomas.Ìý
    In 1934, Mrs E Davies-Thomas also bequeathed funds to the ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlog to augment the Davies-Thomas Scholarship Fund.

    Two Prizes shall be known as the 'Dr Davies-Thomas Prizes'.

    To be eligible for each Prize candidates must have successfully completed the:-
    a. Third year of the Bachelor of Medical Studies program; or
    b. First year of the Doctor of Medicine program; or
    c. Fourth year of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery.Ìý
    in the year for which the Prizes are awarded.

    The first Prize shall be awarded annually to the candidate who achieved the highest overall mark in knowledge tests and objective structured clinical exams (OSCEs) associated with the courses MEDIC ST 3501- Medical Studies 3 and MEDIC ST 3502 - Transition to Clinical Studies in the third year of the Bachelor of Medical Studies program.

    The second Prize shall be awarded annually to the candidate whoÌý
    a. achieved the highest overall mark in the knowledge tests and OSCEs associated with the courses MEDIC ST 7401 and MEDIC ST 7402 in the first year of the Doctor of Medicine program;orÌý
    b. achieved the highest overall mark in the course MEDIC ST 4000 in the fourth year of the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery program.

  • Dr Kenneth Brown Prize in Memory of Daphne Brown

    In recognition of Dr Burgess' care for her students, her service to the School, and her relationship with colleagues, this Prize aims to recognise students who are studying or practising in the field of Public Health who provide outstanding service to their peers.Ìý

    To be eligible for the Prize candidates must:-
    • have completed at least their first year of undergraduate studies and be undertaking a Public Health major; OR
    • be undertaking Honours (Principal Supervisor in the School of Public Health); OR
    • be undertaking Public Health courses in the Graduate Certificate in Public Health, Graduate Diploma in Public Health, or the Master of Public Health

    The Frank Dalziel Prize was established in 2003, from a bequest to the ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlog from the estate of Dr. Frank Dalziel.     This Prize has been established by The Nurses’ Memorial Foundation in honour of Margaret Grace McNair. Grace was a ‘carer beyond the bedside’ and in 1985 was awarded the Order of ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlog for services to nursing and the community. Known as Grace, she was the driving force in fund raising to establish the Centre (now known as The Nurses’ Memorial Foundation).   • School of Allied Health and Practice Speech Pathology Prize

    This Prize was established by the School of Allied Health Science and Practice to recognise and support students in the field of speech pathology at the ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlog of Adelaide.

    To be eligible for the prize candidates must have successfully completed the degree requirements for the Bachelor of Speech Pathology (Honours) program in the year in which the Prize is awarded.

    The top five students with the highest cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) across the duration of the Bachelor of Speech Pathology (Honours) program will be considered for the Prize.

  • Shorney Prize

    Details Value

    In 1941, the late Mabel Shorney on behalf of her family bequeathed funds to the ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlog to establish a Prize in connection with the medical school in memory of her late brother Herbert Frank Shorney MD, FRCS, Lecturer in Ophthalmology from 1926 to 1933.Ìý

    To be eligible for the Prize candidates must be undertaking ophthalmic research in the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences that is either being submitted or published in peer review and/or a scientific journal in the year for which the Prize is awarded.

    The Prize shall be awarded annually to the candidate who has made the most substantial contribution to knowledge in Ophthalmology.

    This Prize has been established by a donation to the ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlog by the ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlogn Medical Association (SA Branch) to honour the late Sir Trent Champion de Crespigny.

    To be eligible for this prize, candidates must be a sixth-year student who has completed Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) programs at the ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlog of Adelaide in the year for which the prize is being awarded.

    The prize shall be awarded annually to the eligible candidate who obtained the highest marks in their Year 5 end-of-year clinical examination (Year 5 Objective Structure Clinical Examinations (OSCEs).

    In 1991, a donation was made to the ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlog from Professor Tasman Brown for the purposes of establishing a medal and Prize to commemorate the late Professor Thomas Draper Campbell, the first Professor of Dental Science and Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry from 1939 to 1958.Ìý

    To be eligible for the Prize candidates must have successfully completed the second year of the Bachelor of Dental Surgery in the year in which the Prize is awarded.

    The Prize shall be awarded annually to the candidate who achieved the highest combined mark in DENT 2005 AHO-Dental Science and Practice II Part 1 and DENT 2005 BHO-Dental Science and Practice II Part 2.

    To be eligible for the Prize candidates must have successfully completed the first year of the Doctor of Medicine or the fourth year of the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery program in the year in which the Prize is awarded.

    The Prize shall be awarded annually to the best performing student across both courses MEDIC ST 7402 - Surgery and Musculoskeletal Medicine and MEDIC ST 4000 in the Surgical and Musculoskeletal (MSK) medicine components in knowledge and objective structured clinical exams (OSCEs).

  • Wilsen Prize for Ethical Conduct

    In 2003, following discussions between Professor Grant Townsend and Adelaide BOS graduate Dr Michael Wilsen regarding the emphasis on ethical conduct in the Adelaide BOS and its importance, it was agreed that a Prize awarding ethical conduct should be established for dental surgery students.Ìý

    To be eligible for the Prize candidates must have successfully completed the third year of the Bachelor of Dental Surgery in the year in which the Prize is awarded.

    Applications must be submitted including a 1500 word essay, addressing "The significance of ethical conduct as a dental student and future dental professional'. The essay must be original work and the use of any Artificial Intelligence tool is not permitted. The essay must have contemporary peer reviewed in-text references and a reference list (not counted as part of the word count) formatted using Harvard system.

    The Prize shall be awarded annually to the candidate who has demonstrated sound ethical conduct throughout the first three years of the program stated above and is deemed to have written the best essay on why ethical conduct is important.Ìý
