HiTeMP-1
The inaugural High Temperature Minerals Processing (HiTeMP) Forum (19-21 September 2018) engaged stakeholders from around the world to address the drivers, barriers, enablers, opportunities and pathways to transform energy-intensive high temperature processes.
The forum attracted more than 100 leaders from 最新糖心Vlog, Japan, Germany, South Africa, USA, Sweden, Brazil and Norway, with close to equal representation from industry, research and government.
HiTeMP-1 Outlook Report
Download the HiTeMP-1 Outlook Report or see a summary of the highlights, industry perspectives and future prospects.
Forum targets
- The iron/steel industry, which is representative of reduction processes.
- The alumina and cement/lime industries, which are representative of calcination processes.
Forum themes
- Opportunities to become more globally competitive.
- Metal reduction, particularly for iron and steel.
- Calcination, particularly for alumina and cement.
- Zero carbon fuels and materials, including hydrogen, syngas and oxygen.
Key questions
- Success:听what would success look like for heavy industry in 3, 10, 20 and 40 years?
- Drivers and opportunities:听what prospects have strong potential for CO2听mitigation for high temperature (greater than 800听掳C) processing using:
- renewable energy
- any other process?
- Barriers:听what is preventing the uptake of renewable energy or other low-carbon processes into high temperature processing?
- Enablers:听what roles do government, researchers and industry play in enabling the pathway to decarbonise?
- Pathways:听renewable technologies can already achieve lower temperature heat. What role could they play to decarbonise high temperature processes?
More than 95 per cent of respondents agreed that the forum was highly relevant to them and recommend making the event an ongoing series. The forum was highly successful in attracting the right people at the right time; that is, a time when many companies, government and research agencies are looking to reduce the high energy costs and carbon emissions of high temperature processes.
The Forum welcomed an international list of speakers and panellists, from Industry, policy-making bodies and research organisations, including Mr Sanjeev Gupta, Executive Chairman and CEO of GFG Alliance.,
