2024 Robinson Research Institute Symposium
Under the theme ‘Reflecting on the Past. Innovating for Tomorrow’, members, staff and affiliates of the Robinson Research Institute met for the annual Symposium last week.
Opened by Director Professor David MacIntyre, attendees enjoyed scientific talks about current research across the Institute, 3-minute Rapid Fire presentations by Higher Degree Research Students and Early- and Mid-Career Researchers, and a keynote speech by Eloise Hall, co-founder of social enterprise TABOO Period Products.

Kicking off with a retrospective by former Institute Directors Professor Sarah Robertson AO and Professor Robert Norman AO, the audience was taken on a journey to the very beginnings of the Institute. Scientific presentations covered topics such as Precision Medicine in Type 1 Diabetes, Improving Outcomes for preterm infants by enhancing use of human milk, Innovating Neonatal Care, Precision Health for Cerebral Palsy through Genomics and Reproduction in Space.
Three-minute Rapid Fire presentations provided a broad overview of the research happening across the Institute. The up-and-coming generation of researchers seized the opportunity to take to the stage, with a prize presented to the winner of each category, voted on by the audience.
The program concluded with a casual fireside chat, where Director David MacIntyre shared his passion and vision for the Institute before presenting the awards to celebrate and honour the achievements and outstanding contributions of our members.
