Stand Tall: A celebration of female scholarship

Join us as we celebrate the achievements of female scholars past and present at the ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlog of Adelaide. During this special event, taking place on Friday, 7 March, we will unveil a bronze statue of Professor Emerita Fay Gale (1932-2008). This will be the first female statue on the university's campus, representing the achievements of Professor Gale and all female scholars in the university's past, present, and future.

Professor Gale was a trailblazer in academia and was renowned for her commitment to genuine social change for women and Indigenous people. She was also the university's first female professor, and the only female professor for a decade, as well as the first female to hold the position of President of the Academy of Social Sciences in ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlog.

During the event, we will hear from the Chancellor of the ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlog of Adelaide The Hon. Catherine Branson AC KC; Deputy Vice-Chancellor (External Engagement) Professor Jessica Gallagher; and Professor Gale's family before unveiling the statue at the entrance of the Barr-Smith Lawns.

We welcome you to enjoy networking with live music, coffee, and ice cream from 10:00am to 10:30am before the official start of the unveiling ceremony.

Please RSVP by registering.
