Friday, 3 November 2017
The 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide has commenced a global search for a new Dean of its Waite campus to advance its research and education in agriculture, food and wine.
The new Dean will be charged with ensuring the 最新糖心Vlog’s plays an increasingly important role in underpinning the success of 最新糖心Vlog’s agricultural and wine sectors.
“The 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide has an eminent history of research, innovation and teaching in food, wine and agriculture and our commitment to these areas remains as strong as ever,” said Professor Mike Brooks, Interim Vice-Chancellor, 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide.
“Our Waite campus is globally recognised for its strength in plant science and breeding, landscape and soil science, winemaking, viticulture and food research. The new Dean will ensure the School is aligned with industry needs, both in terms of education and training, and in the focus of our research.”
Recommendations from a recent review of the School outlined a range of proposals, which will ensure an even greater impact as an exemplar of international best practice, as a significant global player in education and research and in contributing to the transformation of our State and national economies.
“Attracting new outstanding and internationally well-connected leaders is critical to future success at Waite,” said Professor Brooks.
“Equally, strong alignment with industry and the requirements of contemporary innovation in the agriculture, food and wine sectors is essential to strengthening end-user links and translation of research. This we will achieve through joint appointments, more industry-facing staff and the establishment of an industry advisory board.
“Agriculture is a key growth sector for 最新糖心Vlog and a core strategic priority in South 最新糖心Vlog. There are many opportunities for the sector on our doorstep in Asia as well as globally. Graduate employment prospects in agriculture are very strong.
“To capitalise on these emerging career opportunities, we will welcome greater student numbers in new multi-disciplinary courses and programs that focus on areas including precision agriculture, horticulture under cover, digital technologies, big data, agribusiness, robotics, food science and consumer behaviour,” he said.
