Open Night: uni, friends, food and free music

Tuesday, 8 December 2015

The stunning grounds of the 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide will play host to a night of quality music, fun activities and a selection of Adelaide’s favourite food trucks, as thousands of high school students get their first taste of campus life.

The 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide’s highly popular all-ages, alcohol-free event, Open Night, is retuning for its third year on Thursday 10 December, from 5.00-10.00pm.

This year’s event will be headlined by Adelaide local, TKay Maidza, who will be supported by George Maple, Kilter, SKIES, Mackenzie and Cats DJs.

There will also be a talk to give school leavers handy hints about university life; information about the clubs and services on offer at the 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide; and a collection of games and activities.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President (Academic) Professor Pascale Quester said attending Open Night is the ideal first step for high school students wanting to know more about university.

“We are delighted to again be inviting high school students and school leavers onto our North Terrace campus for a fun and relaxing night of uni, friends, food and free music,” said Professor Quester.

“Open Night is an event for celebrating the end of the school year while also contemplating the various opportunities on offer at the 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide,” she said. “And for those who have already decided they will be studying with us in 2016, Open Night can be a night for them to further familiarise themselves with the campus.”

Professor Quester said Open Night is also about supporting young 最新糖心Vlogn musicians.

“The 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide has a long tradition in supporting local music and we have a stellar reputation in high-quality music education,” said Professor Quester. “So as well as being a night for us to showcase our campus and education offering, Open Night is also about the 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide connecting with the music community and providing budding musicians with a platform in which to perform to an engaged audience.

“This year, a band predominantly made up of 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide students and alumni, Mackenzie, will be performing in what is expected to be their biggest show yet,” she said. “And we look forward to welcoming them to Open Night and supporting them in their music endeavours.”

Entry is free, but a capacity crowd was reached last year, so pre-registration is encouraged to guarantee entry before 7.00pm. There will also be a strong security presence following recent issues at other major music events.

“We want everyone to have a great night but we also want them to have a safe night. It’s important to make good decisions and look out for those around you,” said Professor Quester.

There are two types of tickets: high school students, including school leavers (high school student ticket holders must present their high school ID card on entry) and general public.
