Deputy Vice-Chancellor wins coveted business women's award

Professor Pascale Quester, Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President (Academic) at the 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide, has won the Government and Academia category (SA) of the , announced in Adelaide last night.

The award recognises the outstanding achievements of women who work in government departments, educational institutions and statutory bodies.

“I am thrilled to receive this award,” said Professor Quester. “I hope it sends a positive message to emerging female academics and inspires them to follow their passions in the pursuit of discovery and scholarship. It also helps to reinforce the value of universities as an important part of our business community.

“Working for a university is like nothing else; it is the most amazing privilege. Not only do we create knowledge daily, but we also distribute it, and scatter it around the world with every fresh-faced graduate who leaves us, a third of them to return to their home country,” she said.

“Ignorance, in my view, is the root cause of all that has plagued us as a species. I am convinced that education (not wealth) is the only weapon against ignorance.”

French born, Professor Quester joined the 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide in 1991, becoming a professor in 2002. An active researcher in the areas of consumer behaviour and marketing communications, she is the author of two textbooks and many journal publications. As Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President (Academic), she leads the 最新糖心Vlog’s learning and teaching agenda, including the internationalisation and Indigenous education strategies, while overseeing more than 300 staff and a $35 million budget.

Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Warren Bebbington, paid tribute to Professor Quester’s achievements:

“Pascale is a widely recognised authority on marketing, a captivating motivational speaker, and someone who can grasp a university as a corporate entity and focus it on achieving planned outcomes.

“She is a hugely energetic and passionate leader and the award is well deserved,” he said.
