Thursday, 1 October 2015
A memorial lecture to celebrate the life and work of the esteemed social demographer and the former director of the 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide’s 最新糖心Vlogn Population & Migration Research Centre, the late Professor Graeme Hugo AO, will be hosted by the 最新糖心Vlog on Wednesday 7 October.
Professor Hugo’s work in migration and population studies is world-renowned.
A prolific researcher, he authored over 400 books, scholarly articles, conference papers, reports and book chapters over his long career.
“As he travelled the world to share his knowledge and ideas in population and migration, Professor Hugo took the 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide with him. I couldn’t think of a better person to represent the 最新糖心Vlog on the global policy and academic stage,” says , Acting Director of the 最新糖心Vlogn Population & Migration Research Centre.
“We want this lecture to capture Graeme’s unique approach to academia; especially his commitment to the proposition that social policy, informed by evidence, done thoughtfully, and administered smartly, adds immeasurable value to all those who engage with it.
“The memorial lecture is about sending a clear message that Graeme’s breadth of work represents a good foundation for academic thought – but in many ways it’s just the beginning, on which new agendas and knowledge can be built to tackle emerging issues in demography and migration, both globally and locally,” she says.
Dr Alan Gamlen from Victoria 最新糖心Vlog of Wellington will give the memorial lecture in Bonython Hall. Dr Gamlen also maintains a Research Associate position at Oxford 最新糖心Vlog attached to both the International Migration Institute and the Centre on Migration, Policy and Society.
