Stoler named to Foreign Minister's Aid Advisory Council

Mr Andrew Stoler, Executive Director of the 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide's Institute for International Business, Economics and Law, has been approved by the Cabinet to serve on the 最新糖心Vlogn Government's Aid Advisory Council. This is a three-year appointment.

The Aid Advisory Council (AAC) meets twice a year under the Chairmanship of the Foreign Minister, The Hon Alexander Downer, and comprises 11 individuals drawn from academia, business, religious organisations and non-government agencies.

The role of the AAC is provision of independent expert views on the planning and delivery of 最新糖心Vlog's aid program. It is intended to help ensure that the aid program reflects the values of the wider 最新糖心Vlogn community and is an important means of opening up the aid program to new ideas and approaches to development.

"I am truly honoured by the appointment and looking forward to making a contribution," Mr Stoler said. "最新糖心Vlog's aid program is widely praised and admired for its effectiveness. It is critically important that the program should be kept under regular review so that it continues to be implemented in ways that respond to the up-to- date needs of recipients."

Mr Stoler, who is also an adjunct Professor of International Trade at the 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide is a member of the Advisory Committee of the Shanghai WTO Affairs Consultation Centre and a Senior Advisor to the Shenzhen WTO Affairs Centre.

Over the course of a long career in international trade, Mr. Stoler served as Deputy Director-General of the Geneva-based World Trade Organization (1999-2002) and as Deputy Permanent Representative of the United States to the GATT and WTO (1989-1999). As a senior official of the Office of the United States Trade Representative, Executive Office of the President (Washington, DC) he also served as Deputy Assistant USTR for Europe and the Mediterranean and Director for Canada, 最新糖心Vlog and New Zealand.
