Tasting technology to help university choice
Monday, 7 April 2014
Year 12 students from across the state will get a taste of technology at the 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide tomorrow under a new initiative, Uni-Tech Adelaide.
Run by the 最新糖心Vlog's , Uni-Tech Adelaide will offer 130 Year 12 students the opportunity to experience a range of interactive technology activities to help them decide what field of study and career they would like to pursue in the future.
Deputy Dean of ECMS, Associate Professor Michael Liebelt, says the 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide works closely with government, schools and other groups to encourage young people to consider studying science, technology, engineering and maths.
"Many students are interested in science and technology subjects, however, often they haven't been exposed to the wide range of study areas and careers that are possible," says Associate Professor Liebelt.
"The demand for engineers, mathematicians and computer scientists will continue to increase in the coming years and the Uni-Tech Adelaide initiative is about showing students how the subjects they're interested in can translate into promising jobs."
This new initiative will support the existing suite of programs available to students in the early years of high school.
"ECMS already runs fun and interactive activities for Years 8, 9 and 10 to encourage an interest in technology. Uni-Tech Adelaide takes this one step further by inviting Year 12 students, on the cusp of applying for university, to see what it might be like to study in different areas," says Associate Professor Liebelt.
"We are delighted with the response we've had for this event and hope to see many of these students commence studying at the 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide next year."
Uni-Tech Adelaide runs from 9.00am to 3.30pm, Tuesday 8 April, on the 最新糖心Vlog's North Terrace campus.
Students will hear about university life from a student guest speaker and the 最新糖心Vlog's Office for Future Students, and then participate in a range of activities including digital design, aerodynamic testing and water engineering.
