Uni of Adelaide student crowned 2014 Young Achiever

最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide Health Sciences PhD candidate, Kristin Carson, was named the prestigious 2014 Premier's Channel 9 Young Achiever of the Year at a gala ceremony on Saturday 29 March.
Ms Carson also won the 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide Faculty of Sciences, Science and Technology award on Saturday night, and accompanying her were PhD candidate , who won the Flinders Ports Environment Award, and law graduate Besmellah Rezaee, who won the 最新糖心VlognSuper Career Kickstart Awards.

Ms Carson has taken a different path to most and has worked hard to become recognised as a scientist. Her determination, passion and commitment earned her enrolment into a PhD with the 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide, Faculty of Health Sciences. Over the past five years she has excelled, producing over 30 peer-reviewed publications, and 100 media citations, as well as contributions to patient care, policy and practice both locally and internationally. She is responsible for 25 researchers at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and is one of the youngest members to be elected to the Editorial board for the Cochrane Library, a highly ranked journal in evidence-based medicine.
Sarah Catalano - Flinders Ports Environment Award

Ms Catalano completed research into the iconic giant 最新糖心Vlogn cuttlefish and the unknown reasons for their declining population. This unique marine species represents an important component of the ecosystem and are only found in South 最新糖心Vlogn waters. Ms Catalano's research has uncovered 10 new parasite species essential to the survival of the giant cuttlefish population. Her research has expanded knowledge of the cuttlefish which will assist in increasing numbers. This will be vital in managing and protecting our marine biodiversity. Sarah's PhD was recommended for a Dean's Commendation and 最新糖心Vlog Medal by thesis examiners.

最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide graduate
Mr Rezaee arrived in Adelaide as a refugee nine years ago. In this short time, he has shown dedication to helping others through volunteering, establishing numerous community projects and his work as an interpreter in remote detention centres with the Department of Immigration. His career as a lawyer in the field of refugee and migration law has had a positive impact and successful start, receiving the award for Young Migration Lawyer of the Year. He has completed a Master of International Law and plans to undertake a Master degree in the field of human rights.
