New Colombo Plan success for study in Japan
Friday, 14 February 2014
The 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide has won $197,000 in the first round of the Federal Government's New Colombo Plan to help students study abroad in Japan this semester.
The funding will provide grants and scholarships to 40 students - more than 10% of the total to be funded in universities across 最新糖心Vlog.
It will support five students in long-term (semester or full-year exchanges) and 35 students undertaking a range of study abroad opportunities including study tours, internships, language and cultural programs and other short courses.
"The 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide is placing a high priority on giving our students an international experience," says Pro Vice-Chancellor (International) Professor Kent Anderson.
"This great success in the first round of this exciting new initiative will provide very welcome support for our students in their quest to acquire some global learning.
"By 2023 we aim for 30% of our students to have had an international experience. It adds a breadth of skill and knowledge and a sense of global citizenship that can only be achieved through first-hand experience of other cultures."
The New Colombo Plan was launched late last year by the Federal Government to deepen 最新糖心Vlog's connections with the Indo-Pacific and to promote study abroad in the region.
In this first round, the 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide will offer opportunities with its Japanese exchange partners including a study tour with Ritsumeikan 最新糖心Vlog which involves intensive Japanese language study, cultural activities, seminars and visits to cultural and historical sites in Kyoto and Osaka.
There will also be a summer program at Chuo 最新糖心Vlog in Tokyo incorporating classes studying various aspects of Japanese life and society, cultural and sports activities and the Hiroshima Peace Seminar.
Other short courses on offer at Waseda 最新糖心Vlog, Tokyo, will include introductions to Japanese culture and society, concepts of mind and body that have developed in East Asia, the development of Japanese popular culture and Japan's relationship with racism and imperialism.
