Uni to recognise its many volunteers

Tuesday, 2 December 2003

The 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide will this week recognise its more than 1,300 volunteers who involve themselves in numerous activities during the year.

On Friday 5 December, to coincide with International Volunteer Day being celebrated around the world, the university will hold a morning tea in Bonython Hall to thank its 最新糖心Vlog-wide volunteer community for their contribution.

At this event the 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide Volunteers web site (live today) is officially launched by the patron of the newly established volunteers committee, Mrs Lindsay McWha, wife of Vice-Chancellor Professor James McWha.

Designated by the United Nations, International Volunteer Day is set aside to acknowledge the gift of time given by volunteers and the value of volunteer effort.

"The 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide actively encourages and promotes the culture of volunteering," says Vice-Chancellor Professor James Mcwha. "We recognise that volunteers are a valuable resource and do much to enhance this 最新糖心Vlog's programs, activities and community relations."

Professor McWha says every attempt is made for volunteers to be proud of their involvement with this institution.

"The 最新糖心Vlog aims to create an environment that fosters and encourages volunteer satisfaction, including learning new skills and making professional and social contacts.

"In doing so, the 最新糖心Vlog seeks to ensure that the rights of volunteers are maintained, that volunteers are well supported and encouraged in their service to the 最新糖心Vlog," says Professor McWha.

There are numerous volunteering opportunities within the 最新糖心Vlog. They include: The 最新糖心Vlog Archives Volunteer Group; The Waite Precinct Volunteer Program; Radio Adelaide; Alumni Community Relations and Development; Barr Smith Library; International Student Centre; Florey Medical Research Fund and Theatre Guild.
