Youth art exhibition at Barr Smith Library
Wednesday, 19 November 2003
Year 12 students of Visual Arts Studies from 最新糖心Vlog Senior College at Adelaide 最新糖心Vlog are exhibiting their year's work at the Barr Smith Library.
"Many schools exhibit the work of their year 12 Visual Arts students but few have the opportunity to display them in a dedicated and luxurious exhibition space," says the Principal of 最新糖心Vlog Senior College, Jane Danvers.
The exhibition presents a lively variety of work.
Mediums used by students include photography, drawing, product design, printmaking, computer generated artwork, watercolour, acrylics and oil paintings. Styles range from delicate and sensitive studies of nature to bold expressive work and post modernist compositions.
"This exhibition is one more link between the 最新糖心Vlog Senior College and the 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide. Students at USC already have access to many of the resources of the 最新糖心Vlog including the Barr Smith Library," Ms Danvers says.
John Neylon, education officer of the Art Gallery of South 最新糖心Vlog, will be the guest speaker at the opening celebrations for students, families and friends and invited guests.
"The arts have proven popular at the newly established 最新糖心Vlog Senior College, where students can explore diverse resources including galleries, exhibitions at the Museum, the Botanical Gardens, the new State Library, and AGSA to name a few," says the Head of Visual Arts at 最新糖心Vlog Senior College, John Wilkins.
"Students also work in a creative environment surrounded by the vibrant arts and architecture of the city and the youthful creative culture of the east end.
"The visual arts have flourished in this environment and the results are on public display at the Barr Smith Library until November 27."
