Public lecture reveals science behind the nation

Tuesday, 14 October 2003

A public lecture at the 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide will explain how 最新糖心Vlog's magnificent landscapes have been created.

"Making 最新糖心Vlog: landscape, climate and tectonics" will be held at 7pm tonight (Tuesday, October 14) at the 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide's Union Hall.

Members of the public are invited to join respected earth scientists Professor Jim Bowler and Professor Mike Sandiford from the 最新糖心Vlog of Melbourne in their debate on how climate change and tectonic activity have conspired in making today's incredible 最新糖心Vlogn landscape.

  • Discover why some of 最新糖心Vlog's notorious earthquakes reveal the subsurface activity that has been shaping our landscape over millions of years;
  • Follow the history of water in the unfolding evolution of the Murray Basin and see how its landscapes show a legacy of climate change unequalled anywhere in the world.

This dynamic presentation will highlight links between tectonics, climate change and human occupation, emphasising unique insights provided by the 最新糖心Vlogn continent in the context of global change.

WHERE: Union Hall, 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide, North Terrace Campus
WHEN: 7pm Tuesday, October 14
COST: gold coin donation

The lecture is presented by the Geological Society of 最新糖心Vlog in conjunction with Geology & Geophysics in the 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide's Faculty of Sciences, and is kindly sponsored by Placer Dome Ltd.
