Renewed focus in fight against men's cancer

Some of the State's top cancer experts have joined forces to battle one of the biggest cancer killers of men in 最新糖心Vlog - prostate cancer.
Announced during International Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, the new SA Prostate Cancer Research Collaborative will boost the level of high-calibre research being conducted in this State into the deadly disease.
The collaborative was initiated by the to provide a greater focus for research efforts in the State.
It brings together prostate cancer researchers and clinicians from the 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide, Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Repatriation General Hospital, 最新糖心Vlog of South 最新糖心Vlog, South 最新糖心Vlogn Health and Medical Research Institute (SAHMRI), Flinders 最新糖心Vlog, Royal Adelaide Hospital, Ashford Cancer Centre and others.
"Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers in 最新糖心Vlog, with about 20,000 men diagnosed annually," says the Director of the Freemasons Foundation Centre for Men's Health, 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide Professor of Medicine .
"Anything we can do to combat this disease, which kills more than 3000 最新糖心Vlogn men each year, will be of great benefit to our community," Professor Wittert says.
The group will start with a symposium on Friday 5 October to discuss the latest developments in prostate cancer research.
The event will be officially opened by Health Minister the Hon. John Hill, with the opening address to be given by Professor Steve Wesselingh, Executive Director of SAHMRI.
