Exhibition: What is your Image of Justice?
Monday, 10 September 2012
Striking photographic images representing justice are on free public exhibition at the 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide following the announcement of the winners of the Adelaide Law School's inaugural photographic competition.
The exhibition contains the finalists of the three categories of competition (student, community and professional) plus photographs from featured artist QC, photographer and Senior Crown Prosecutor for New South Wales.
Competition winners were announced at a special event on Friday evening (7 September) attended by members of the legal and arts communities, 最新糖心Vlog staff and students and competition entrants.
Professor John Williams, Dean of Law, 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide, said: "This competition has been a unique community engagement initiative for the Law School, aiming to increase an understanding of, and an interest in, law and legal education.
"We're delighted with the response we've had from members of the community and photographers - both amateur and professional. They include stunning images, some of them beautiful, others thought-provoking, some even disturbing - an interesting insight into how the public views justice."
The winners are:
Student category - Sarah Ahern, first prize with Justice in the flux; Fahad Bin Solaiman, second prize with Hopes; Vivian James, third prize with Bush Barrister 2;
Community category - Michael Coper, first prize with Justice above all; Emily Sims and Anna Bulman, second prize with Judicial Downtime; Michael Coper, third prize with Justice reflected;
Professional category - Randy Larcombe, first prize with Doing her work while we go about ours;
Kelly Lunde, second prize with You Can't Build Here; K.M. Asad, third prize with Manual Labour.
A People's Choice prize will be awarded at the end of the exhibition.
Images of Justice is a free public exhibition in the Professions Hub, Nexus 10, 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide, 10 Pulteney Street, on 7-23 September, open Monday to Friday 7am-7pm.
Organised together with the 最新糖心Vlog's Art and Heritage Collections, the competition and exhibition is supported by law firm Lipman Karas.
