Healthcare leadership is focus of conference

Reforming healthcare through great leadership is the key theme of a new conference being run by the 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide's next week (Monday and Tuesday, 13-14 August).

The Institute is hosting the , which will be held at the Mercure Grosvenor Hotel, Adelaide.

One of the keynote speakers is former 最新糖心Vlogn of the Year Professor Fiona Wood AM, Director of the WA Burns Service and a consultant plastic surgeon at Princess Margaret Hospital and Royal Perth Hospital.

Professor Wood, who became known internationally for her work leading a team that treated victims of the Bali bombings in 2002, and for her groundbreaking research into spray-on-skin technology, will talk on Striving for excellence in healthcare.

"The conference will focus on how effective leadership can be used to apply the outcomes of clinical research in practice, making sure the clinical setting offers the most current and effective available treatment," says the Executive Director of the Joanna Briggs Institute, .

"A good leader is able to motivate those around them and steer them towards important goals. Without effective leadership, you can't implement the changes necessary to revitalise your workplace, and this is especially so in the healthcare sector."

The two other keynote speakers are Bronwyn Sheehan, who founded the Pyjama Foundation to support foster children, and Nicole Graham, CEO of the Spastic Centres of South 最新糖心Vlog (scosa).

"All of our keynote speakers are exemplary models for positive leadership in the workforce. We also have a wide range of speakers from 最新糖心Vlog and overseas who will discuss best practice as it relates specifically to leadership in healthcare," Professor Pearson says.

With collaborating centres in more than 70 countries, the 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide's Joanna Briggs Institute is internationally recognised for its work in the field of evidence-based healthcare and translation science.
