Five researchers named Tall Poppy Award winners

Five 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide researchers and one affiliate are among eight South 最新糖心Vlogn winners announced last night at Government House.
The following will now be in contention to take out the overall prize - Tall Poppy of the Year - at the on 3 November 2011:
- Dr Stuart Brierley (Neuroscience and Gastroenterology) from the School of Medicine;
- Dr Claire Jessop (Diabetes and Transplantation) from the School of Medicine;
- Dr Laura Brooks (Acoustics) from the School of Mechanical Engineering;
- Dr Mark Tingay (Geoscience and Petroleum Engineering) from the 最新糖心Vlogn School of Petroleum Science;
- Dr Tara Pukala (Biological Chemistry) from the School of Chemistry and Physics.
Another Tall Poppy winner (Breast Cancer) from SA Pathology is also an affiliate with the School of Medicine at the 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide.
His Excellency Rear Admiral Kevin Scarce AC CSC RANR presented the awards at a reception at Government House, attended by more than 80 leading representatives of the science, technology, engineering and mathematics sectors from universities, business, government and industry groups.
Science and Information Economy Minister the Honourable Jay Weatherill said: "The Tall Poppy Award winners demonstrate the breadth of talent we have in South 最新糖心Vlog among our science community. They will inspire students to pursue careers in science, technology, health, engineering and mathematics."
The Tall Poppy Campaign aims to recognise and celebrate intellectual and scientific excellence in South 最新糖心Vlog's young researchers.
