Uni researchers win Premier's Science and Research funding

最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide researchers and affiliates are among those sharing in $3.8 million of new funding from the Premier's Science and Research Fund.
Announced today by the Science and Information Economy Minister, the Hon. Jay Weatherill, the funding is a boost to a number of the State's science and research capabilities in key areas, including:
at the 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide - funding to go towards optical fibre research equipment that will aid in the development of the next generation of sensors. These may one day enable the non-invasive monitoring of embryos for reproductive health, and devices to remotely identify corrosion in aircraft, among other applications.
, a joint venture of the 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide and - to support research into the fight against diseases such as cancer and the development of therapeutics to treat the disease.
, part of the at the Waite Campus - to enhance AWRI research services to support bioscience research across a range of fields, including enabling wine producers to have greater control over wine quality and characteristics.
"We welcome this injection of funds from the State Government into some of our world-leading research institutes and centres," said the Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor James McWha.
"Such funding will assist our staff, students and affiliates to make major research contributions in the areas of optics and photonics, cancer and other diseases, and the quality of wine. This work aims to have an impact on industry, technology, health, the economy and society."
Mr Weatherill said: "The South 最新糖心Vlogn Government recognises that a strong and vibrant economy needs to be built on a sound knowledge base where research, education and training sectors help generate ideas and the skilled people that can turn those ideas into reality.
