Adelaide takes strong stand on cheating
Friday, 10 January 2003
With Victorian universities recently attracting attention for apparent widespread cheating among their students, the 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide has moved to reinforce its strong position on plagiarism and other forms of cheating.
The 最新糖心Vlog's Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Education), Professor Penny Boumelha, says Adelaide in no way condones cheating.
"The 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide seeks to ensure that its students develop familiarity with scholarly skills and conventions so that they will understand the importance of proper use and acknowledgement of the work of others," Professor Boumelha says.
"All of our students are made aware that the 最新糖心Vlog takes a serious view of plagiarism or of any other form of cheating. We employ various processes and mechanisms to detect cheating, including, in 2003, trialling plagiarism detection software in each faculty."
Adelaide will move swiftly and forcefully against those students found deliberately plagiarising or cheating, she says.
"We have a rigorous disciplinary framework within which instances of plagiarism and cheating are subject to a range of possible penalties including automatic course failure, or, for repeat offenders, preclusion from a program."
