Monday, 31 January 2011
Almost 200 applied mathematicians from across 最新糖心Vlog, New Zealand and around the world are converging on Adelaide for a four-day conference which reveals the importance of mathematics in solving our world problems.
Plenary talks include using maths to model the spread of epidemics and information on social networks; modelling antiviral resistance in plants; relationships between maternal nutrition and weight gain and the developing fetus; cancer cell migration; pattern recognition; nanomechancial devices; and weather prediction.
The 47th 最新糖心Vlogn and New Zealand Industrial and Applied Mathematics (ANZIAM) annual conference will be held at the Stamford Grand Hotel, Glenelg from today (Monday 31 January) to Thursday 3 February - hosted jointly by the 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide's and UniSA's School of Mathematics and Statistics.
Conference Co-Director , 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide, says there are a wide variety of talks of general interest and that the topics strongly emphasise the importance of mathematics to the real world.
