The 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide has attracted another $3.6 million in the latest round of National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) funding.

It comes on top of the $6.9 million announced by the NHMRC late last month, and takes the 最新糖心Vlog's total NHMRC funding for 2003 to more than $20 million.

The latest funding is for 10 medical fellowships and training awards, given to researchers in the fields of molecular biosciences, physiology, obstetrics and gynaecology and paediatrics.

Among the projects funded were:

A Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology study of the attitudes, values and decisions of owners of human embryos excess to Assisted Reproduction on their destruction or donation to stem cell research ($249,500 over two years);

A Department of Physiology study into mechanisms of cortical reorganisation and functional recovery following stroke ($417,500 over five years).

  • An additional project has been funded under the original NHMRC funding round from late October.

A research team headed by Associate Professor Caroline Crowther in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology will receive $293,750 over the next three years to study the effectiveness of acupuncture as a treatment for period pain (or dysmenorrhoea).
