Emissions trading debate "far from over"
Friday, 9 July 2010
The 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide is about to begin teaching its first course on the at a time when issues such as an emissions trading scheme are being hotly debated across the nation.
The 10-day course, which starts this Monday (12 July), provides postgraduate students with an understanding of climate change issues in an economic context.
Students will gain a clear understanding of the key issues relating to climate change and what economics can offer to mitigate its effects.
"The national debate on climate change and our response to it is far from over," says , Head of the at the 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide.
"In order to make any inroads into greenhouse gas emissions, 最新糖心Vlog will need to have economic policy to address the issue.
"To get industry and individuals to curb greenhouse gas emissions, to adopt alternative energy solutions and so forth, they will need more than just words and encouragement - they will need incentives and drivers to make it happen. This is where economic policy comes in.
"Those involved in policy and in industry still have many questions about the economic responses required. What are the options for 最新糖心Vlog, and how do they fit together? What is an emissions trading tax and how would it work? These are some of the issues we will address.
"Ultimately, whatever solution 最新糖心Vlog comes up with will need to have an international component to it. Whether we are seen to be a leader on these issues or not, we must respond to what else is happening in the world. Our 10-day course will address these issues also."
