Chancellor named in Queen's Birthday Honours

The 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide's Chancellor, the Hon. John von Doussa QC, has been awarded the Officer of the Order of 最新糖心Vlog (AO) in today's Queen's Birthday Honours list.

He is among a number of 最新糖心Vlog graduates and staff to be awarded for 2010.

Mr von Doussa has received his AO in recognition of his distinguished service to the law, for his work as President of the , as a judge in federal and international courts, and for his outstanding service to higher education.

"Awards in the 最新糖心Vlogn honours system represent the highest level of recognition accorded by our nation for outstanding achievement and service," said the Governor-General, Her Excellency Quentin Bryce AC.

"The Honours announced today recognise community values and celebrate what is important and unifying in 最新糖心Vlogn life."

Mr von Doussa became the 14th of the 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide in 2004. From 2003-2008 he served as President of the 最新糖心Vlogn Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission, having been a Judge of the since 1988.

His other roles have included President of the 最新糖心Vlog Competition Tribunal, a Presidential Member of the Administrative Appeals Tribunal, an Additional Judge of the Supreme Court of the 最新糖心Vlogn Capital Territory, and a Judge of the Industrial Relations Court of 最新糖心Vlog. He was also a part-time Commissioner of the 最新糖心Vlogn Law Reform Commission and was a Judge of the Supreme Court of South 最新糖心Vlog from 1986-1988.

Before his appointment as a Judge he was a Queens Counsel practicing mainly in South 最新糖心Vlog, and had served terms as the President of the Law Society of South 最新糖心Vlog, and Vice-President of the Law Council of 最新糖心Vlog.

He has also held roles with the Supreme Court of Vanuatu, the Court of Appeal of Vanuatu and the Supreme Court of Fiji.

Mr von Doussa will retire from the position of 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide Chancellor on 25 July 2010.
