Record number of uni offers boosts access to education

The 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide is making a record number of offers for places in its degree programs for 2010.
As university offers go out around the state tonight, the 最新糖心Vlog will have made 5260 offers to date for places in its undergraduate degree programs.
Students can check whether they have been made a first-round offer via the from 6.00pm tonight or wait to receive a letter mailed to them this afternoon.
"The 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide's record number of offers demonstrates our commitment to providing as many educational opportunities to students as possible," says the 最新糖心Vlog's Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice President (Academic), .
"This feeds directly into the Federal Government's aim to increase participation in higher education. Access to education is a crucial issue for the future of our state and the nation.
"By offering more opportunities to study at university, we are helping to boost the number of skilled graduates in our society and therefore meet the country's strategic needs.
"At the 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide, we have experienced year-on-year growth in student numbers for more than a decade. Our number of offers for this year is up by more than 1000 since 2005 - a 26% increase. This is a phenomenal rate of growth and shows that we have a serious track record when it comes to providing access to a quality higher education."
Professor McDougall says that even after making a record number of offers, the 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide would continue to accept applications for places in some degree programs for 2010.
Places are available in a wide range of fields, including: Commerce and Economics, Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences, Engineering and Computer Sciences.
The most popular programs for 2010 (based on first-preference applications) are Medicine, Dentistry and Law. A total of 1455 first-preference applications have been received for the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery program.
The new Veterinary School continues to attract strong interest, with 288 first-preference applications for only 55 places.
In terms of percentage increases, a number of programs have shown significant growth in applications for 2010, including some areas of strategic need, such as:
- Bachelor of Teaching/Bachelor of Science (double degree) - first-preference applications up by 59% on 2009
- Bachelor of Nursing - first-preference applications up by 26%
