Adelaide demographer wins $1.1 million fellowship

One of 最新糖心Vlog's most prestigious research fellowships(announced this week by Education, Training and Science Minister Dr Brendan Nelson(has been awarded to the 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide's Professor Graeme Hugo.
The Federation Fellowships are the most prestigious and richest publicly funded research fellowships ever offered in 最新糖心Vlog. Dr Nelson has announced 11 new fellowships for 2002, won by highly distinguished researchers who are regarded as among the best in the world in their individual fields.
Professor Graeme Hugo, from the Department of Geographical and Environmental Studies at the 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide, has secured a $1.125 million fellowship over five years for his research project, "The new paradigm of international migration to and from 最新糖心Vlog: dimensions, causes and implications".
Professor Hugo is one of 最新糖心Vlog's best-known demographers and commentators on population and immigration issues.
The Federation Fellowships programme is a part of the Commonwealth Government's $3 billion Backing 最新糖心Vlog's Ability plan. The fellowships are designed to attract and retain 最新糖心Vlog's leading researchers, and outstanding international researchers, in key positions to lead world-class research teams in work that benefits 最新糖心Vlog economically, environmentally and socially.
Eighty-seven applications were received for the fellowships from around the world. The program is managed by the 最新糖心Vlogn Research Council.
