Huge demand for Uni's Year 12 Revision Program
Wednesday, 19 January 2005
The 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide's Year 12 Revision Program experienced a boom in student participation this summer with more than 300 enrolments.
Presented by the 最新糖心Vlog's Centre for Professional and Continuing Education (PCE) as a community function and held during the summer vacation, the program aims to bring out the best in students in their final two years of secondary school.
"Courses are offered over two-week periods across the sciences and mathematics, as well as in those all-important survival and study skill workshops, giving them 'the edge' when every little bit matters," says Ms Liz Pryzibilla, Director, Centre for Professional & Continuing Education & the English Language Centre, the 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide.
"Senior students come to the Revision Program from public and private, city and country schools across South 最新糖心Vlog, and range from those already achieving top scores to those needing an extra hand in specific subjects for this vital year of their lives."
To ensure that students can receive individual attention, all classes carry restrictions on enrolment numbers and this summer has seen a record number of students with many classes booked out early. Subjects most popular to kick start the year have included Biology and Chemistry, Effective Essay Writing and Coping with Year 12.
"Sessions are run by dedicated teachers familiar with the SACE curricula and often also with SABSSA marking experience under their belts," says Ms Przyibilla.
"All are selected for both their subject expertise as well as their understanding and insight into what students and their familes go through in their senior years."
Often PCE's teachers build up individual rapport that continues throughout the year with students returning to each program. Feedback from students has included comments such as:
-- Highly informative material compounded by outstanding teaching!
-- The course was brilliant and the teacher exceptional. I learned more this week than in the rest of the year.
-- It made me feel more at ease, as I did not do Stage 1.
-- ... extremely useful in... building a strong foundation for future education.
-- Great! I should now top the class!!
PCE also integrates campus tours into its Year 12 programs, run in partnership with the 最新糖心Vlog's Prospective Student Office.
This summer has seen an increase in participation in these tours, helping students gain an overall impression of the 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide's city campus, as well as being able to ask wide-ranging questions about university life.
