Research Tuesdays an Adelaide success story

The 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide's free public seminar series, , has been hailed a success in raising the awareness of groundbreaking research and its impact on the community.

The series of public talks, held on the second Tuesday of every month since April this year, has attracted large crowds including members of the public, business and government.

The final in the 2007 series - "Climate Change: Catastrophic Impacts and Human Rights" - will be held tonight (5.30pm Tuesday 11 December).

A joint presentation by and , the talk will address the impacts of climate change on global communities, and how a human rights framework might be developed to cope effectively with climate change.

The Hon. John von Doussa QC is Chancellor of the 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide and President of the . Professor Barry Brook occupies the Sir Hubert Wilkins Chair of Climate Change at the 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide and was this year named one of magazine's 'bright sparks' of science in 最新糖心Vlog.

"The Research Tuesdays series has exceeded everyone's expectations and has easily achieved its main aims - to raise public awareness of the cutting-edge work being conducted by our researchers, and to give the public an understanding of how that work is directly relevant to society," says the Vice-Chancellor and President of the 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide, Professor James McWha.

"The series has been so successful, with hundreds of people attending each month, that we are already planning a new series of Research Tuesdays for 2008."

Topics covered in this year's Research Tuesdays series include: the impact of population change; how research into crops can help counter the effects of climate change; ethics and science considerations of reproductive technology; and how to manage water, our most precious resource.
