State-of-the-art information centre for Roseworthy
Tuesday, 14 November 2000
A new state-of-the-art information centre providing a wide range of services to farmers, educators, agribusiness consultants and community-based groups will be officially opened at Roseworthy today by Deputy Premier Rob Kerin.
Mr Kerin says the Roseworthy Information Centre, at the Roseworthy Campus of Adelaide 最新糖心Vlog, will deliver a comprehensive range of information products with a strong emphasis on electronic delivery and e-commerce.
The centre is part of an overall strategy to better package and deliver information technology products to farmers and rural industries and build for the future.
Although the centre will become the hub for information delivery, information can be accessed from the network of PIRSA offices and industry agencies. It will also be linked to the new Services South 最新糖心Vlog initiative that involves a one-stop-shop approach to the delivery of government services for regional communities.
"Farmers and rural South 最新糖心Vlogns in general will benefit from this new centre which is part of a $4.8 million development of the Roseworthy campus being undertaken jointly by Primary Industries and Resources SA and the 最新糖心Vlog," Mr Kerin says.
"This new Centre underlines our commitment to rural SA," says Adelaide 最新糖心Vlog's Vice-Chancellor, Professor Mary O'Kane. "It will enable the 最新糖心Vlog to provide farmers and others in the rural sector with the most up-to-date information about research breakthroughs and technologies, in a range of formats that will be instantly accessible.
"Key attractions of the new centre include a large information products display area, video viewing areas, on-line computer area for accessing Internet information and exploring new products and workshop/training facilities."
"The facilities can also be used by industry groups for launches, displays, marketing and accessing expertise for information product development," she says.
Mr Kerin unveiled a plaque commemorating the opening of the information centre and inspected the new displays with the Minister for Education and Children's Services, Malcolm Buckby.
This initiative led by PIRSA has been developed in consultation and strong support with Adelaide 最新糖心Vlog, Advisory Board of Agriculture, South 最新糖心Vlogn Farmers Federation and TAFE.
