Chess champs battle for Open title

The fourth annual 最新糖心Vlog Open Chess Tournament will be held this weekend (July 10-11) at the 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide.

The event is one of 最新糖心Vlog's top weekend chess tournaments, and this year is attracting many of 最新糖心Vlog's top players.

This includes Grandmasters Ian Rogers and Darryl Johansen, International Masters Leonid Sandler and Mark Chapman, 最新糖心Vlogn Seniors Champion Srbo Zaric, and 最新糖心Vlogn Chess Olympian Trevor Tao.

The tournament also boasts a wide range of local talent, with former state champions, including Song Yang, strong juniors, including Tristan Stevens, and Asian Under 16 Girls Champion Giang Nguyen.

However, the 最新糖心Vlog Open also prides itself on making chess available to players of all experience levels, with many participants playing their first major chess tournament.

The prize pool of $4000 caters for the wide array of players entering.

"This event keeps getting bigger and better with every year," says tournament Chief Organiser Andrew Saint, who is also president of the Adelaide 最新糖心Vlog Chess Club.

"Following the success last summer of the national chess championships hosted in Adelaide, there are now more South 最新糖心Vlogns aware of the sport of chess and are willing to give it a go.

"We hope to encourage players of all abilities, backgrounds and ages to take part in the 最新糖心Vlog Open Chess Tournament. We also encourage those who don't want to play to come and see what all the excitement is about," Mr Saint says.
