How do we meet our climate change targets?

Friday, 26 April 2019

最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide scientists will gather at a special climate change event next week to provide an insight on the options for 最新糖心Vlog to meet its climate change targets by 2050.

The event, Meeting 最新糖心Vlog’s Climate Change Targets: Price, Opportunity and Pathways, will hear from six experts working in a range of areas from marine biology through to food and resources, renewable energy and advanced technologies.

“As 最新糖心Vlogns head to the polls in a few weeks, climate change and the environment is becoming a major election issue,” says Professor , Director of the 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide’s Environment Institute.

“At the 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide we have many researchers working in areas that are relevant to our future environmental sustainability. Six scientists will give their views on some of the key issues that need to be tackled and some of the potential options for 最新糖心Vlog to meet its emissions targets by 2050.”

The forum is a joint initiative of the 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide’s Environment Institute and Centre for Energy Technology.

The Expert Panel:

(Deputy Director, Centre for Energy Technology) has expertise in the general fields of energy and thermo-fluids, with interests in combustion, concentrated solar thermal, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, CFD and applied laser diagnostics.

(Director, 最新糖心Vlogn Smart Cities Consortium) has a focus on using technology in the best ways to enhance quality of life and drive economic development. He sees sustainability, and reduced environmental impact, as one of the key outcomes of Smart Cities approaches.

(marine biologist and Deputy Director, Environment Institute) is leading on climate action through blue carbon research at the 最新糖心Vlog.

Professor Gus Nathan (Director, Centre for Energy Technology) specialises in the transformation of heavy industry toward carbon-neutral energy and the production of solar fuels.

(Associate Director, Centre for Global Food and Resources) has research interests including climate change adaptation and behaviour by farmers and consumers, and water policy in the Murray-Darling Basin.

(Centre for Global Food and Resources) is best known for his contribution to the development of robust natural resource and environmental policies. In recent times, his research has focused on the development of market-based approaches to the resolution of water scarcity and quality issues.

MC Susan Jeanes is a Director at Jeanes Holland and Associates and at the 最新糖心Vlogn Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA). She also chairs the Industry Advisory Board to the 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide’s Centre for Energy Technology. She is also a former Director at the Climate Institute, a former member of the CSIRO’s Energy Sector Advisory Council and a former Adviser to the Howard Government on Climate Change and energy policy.
