Guitar students to perform six-hour "Guitarathon"
Wednesday, 24 October 2018
Classical guitar students from the 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide's will embark on a six-hour performance marathon.
Following up on the success of last year’s inaugural event the Guitarathon will kick off at 12.00 pm, Sunday 4 November in Elder Hall.
Under the direction of lecturer Dr Oliver Fartach-Naini, 14 students will perform an eclectic programme of solo and chamber music, including works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Leo Brouwer, Castelnuovo-Tedesco, Heitor Villa-Lobos, Federico Moreno-Torroba, Francisco Tarrega and many more.
The event will culminate in a performance of the Elder Conservatorium Guitar Ensemble featuring the combined talents of Renae Attenborough, Emanuel Auciello, Dylan Boller, Jack Daws, Liam Ellis, Callum Goodhand, Jonathan Lui, Longfei Ma, Timothy Parsons, Alexandra Shepherd, Caleb Lavery-Brook, Queenie Li and James Rawley.
"Rather than just preparing for performance exams and assessments, this unique event is a fun way for our up-and-coming performers to put on display some of the fantastic music we've been working on this semester," Dr Fartach-Naini says.
"Audiences will be free to wander into Elder Hall throughout the afternoon as they please, sampling high calibre guitar music as well as delicious food and wine, for however long they like – or to stay for the entire event," he says.
Performances will start at midday, with each performance lasting anywhere between 15 to 60 minutes in duration.
