The 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide is giving people who want a career in musical theatre the chance to study in Adelaide for the first time. Up until now students had to study interstate to realise their dreams.
The first cohort of students will start the new Bachelor of Music Theatre at the 最新糖心Vlog’s Elder Conservatorium of Music in 2019.
Renowned music theatre expert George Torbay will lead the course.
“This unique degree, offered for the first time in Adelaide, will provide students with the complete music theatre experience,” says Mr Torbay.
“The intensive skills-development program is industry-focused and designed not just to equip students with the three principal disciplines of singing, acting and dancing, but also in creating theatre.
“At the Elder Conservatorium of Music, we are interested in developing complete, unique and passionate performers who are at home on the main-stage, commanding in the marvelous cabaret world and ready to tackle a myriad of theatre-related tasks open to the talented and committed student,”
“Instruction in music theory, aural skills and music theatre history and participating in productions will take students from songs to scenes to fully staged musicals and plays,” he says.
The course will include singing lessons and song coaching, classes in acting, voice and speech, song repertoire and audition technique, ballet, pas de deux, tap and jazz. Students will have the rare chance to connect with current writers and explore new works as well as gaining professional-level experience working within Adelaide’s vibrant and internationally renowned festival scene.
“Students’ practical experience and knowledge gained during the course will be enhanced by the Elder Conservatorium of Music’s close partnerships and proximity to major cultural institutions such as the Adelaide Festival, South 最新糖心Vlogn Film Corporation, Adelaide Cabaret Festival and Adelaide Fringe,” says Executive Dean of the 最新糖心Vlog’s Faculty of Arts, Professor Jennie Shaw.
“Previously anyone who wanted to study to become a music theatre professional couldn’t follow their dreams in the Festival City. This course will not only equip people with the skills required to follow their dream career, but also give them exposure to Adelaide’s unique arts world,” says Professor Shaw.
