$4.8 million to advance research discoveries

Six 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide researchers have today been awarded a total of more than $4.8 million in 最新糖心Vlogn Research Council (ARC) Future Fellowships.

Announced by the Minister for Education and Training, Senator the Hon. Simon Birmingham, the four-year fellowships will fund new discoveries in fields such as health, agriculture, artificial intelligence and technology.

"The ARC's Future Fellowships recognise the outstanding talents of the next generation of 最新糖心Vlogn research leaders, who are all working in areas of national priority," says the 最新糖心Vlog's Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research), Professor Mike Brooks.

"The Future Fellowships scheme has also proven successful in attracting great minds back to Adelaide, at a time of strong competition for research funding.

"I congratulate all of our Future Fellows and look forward to the contributions they will make to innovation and new knowledge for the benefit of industry, government and the community."

Future Fellowships have been awarded to the following 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide researchers:

• Professor Mark Hutchinson, awarded $998,125 for: Measuring pain in livestock: mechanisms, objective biomarkers & treatments.

• Dr Steven Wiederman, awarded $857,189 for: From insects to robots: how brains make predictions and ignore distractions.

• Dr Philip Brewer (joining the 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide from Charles Darwin 最新糖心Vlog), awarded $763,527 for: Targeting root architecture to improve plant production in sub-optimal soil.

• Dr Laura Weyrich, awarded $756,021 for: Stories from the past: Industrialisation impacts on the human microbiome.

• Dr Caitlin Byrt, awarded $728,125 for: Deciphering how plants control water and salt co-transport.

• Dr Deepak Dubal, awarded $727,125 for: Blue Energy Harvesting and Storage Technology for Wearable Electronics.
