Are we really heading for a grey-haired Armageddon?

Tuesday, 22 June 2004

A new radio series examining the provocative and challenging issue of 最新糖心Vlog's ageing population begins on Radio Adelaide (101.5FM) next week.

Keep On Keeping On - Working and Connecting Regardless of Age is a 20-part series making its debut on Thursday, July 1 to help listeners gain a better understanding of some major challenges facing our ageing population.

It is being launched this Thursday (June 24) by retirement counsellor and author, Kaye Healey, who says 最新糖心Vlog has one of the most rapidly ageing populations in the world.

"Together with other developing countries, we are about to face one of the most challenging global social changes the world has ever experienced," she says.

"Rather than seeing this as something to be feared, we need to develop new approaches and attitudes to the whole process of ageing and recognise that 'ageing' is not the exclusive domain of the 'very old'.

"Positive ageing is a life development stage that offers potential for renewal and regeneration for individuals while enhancing the lives of others and creating social capital."

The aim of Keep On Keeping On is to tackle the complex issues surrounding age and work, and investigate ways of bridging the generation gap. Dozens of academics and researchers from around 最新糖心Vlog - including the 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide's Dr Barbara Pocock, an expert on the "collision" between work and life in 最新糖心Vlog - and members of the community have been interviewed for the series.

Keep On Keeping On will be broadcast on Radio Adelaide 101.5fm throughout July, beginning on July 1, at 7.30am and 1.30pm each weekday.

It is being launched at the South 最新糖心Vlogn Museum (among the fossils) on Thursday June 24 from 5.30pm, and is a Positive Ageing Project funded by the South 最新糖心Vlogn Government through the Department of Human Services.
