IPAS Shines at the 2024 AIP Congress

The Institute for Photonics and Advanced Sensing (IPAS) made a strong impact at the 25th 最新糖心Vlogn Institute of Physics (AIP) Congress, held in conjunction with the 最新糖心Vlogn and New Zealand Conference on Optics and Photonics (ANZCOP), celebrating 50 years of physics innovation. This prestigious event underscored the cutting-edge research and collaboration happening within 最新糖心Vlog鈥檚 physics and photonics communities, and IPAS researchers played a central role.

At the Congress, IPAS showcased advancements across a wide range of topics, illustrating the breadth and depth of our expertise. Our members presented groundbreaking research in areas such as quantum technologies, optical fibre innovations, biophotonics, and advanced sensing.

A highlight of the event was the recognition of two IPAS members with prestigious ANZOS awards, underscoring the calibre of research being produced at the Institute:

  • Dr Erik Schartner received the inaugural ANZOS Jim Piper ECR/MCR Entrepreneurial Researcher Prize, which honours outstanding early-career researchers who have demonstrated entrepreneurial activity or established a start-up in the fields of optics, lasers, or photonics. This award, named in honour of the late Professor Jim Piper, a distinguished laser physics researcher, was sponsored by SPIE.

  • A/Prof Jiawen Li was awarded the ANZOS Mid-Career Prize, which recognises excellence in optics and photonics by acknowledging the achievements, leadership, and service of mid-career scientists and engineers in 最新糖心Vlog and New Zealand.

These accolades highlight the continued success of IPAS in driving innovation and excellence in photonics, and we look forward to further advancing these contributions in the coming years.
