IPAS at SPIE Optics + Photonics 2024

We wish to celebrate the contributions of IPAS members who recently participated in the SPIE Optics + Photonics 2024 conference in San Diego, a premier event that gathers leading researchers to advance the fields of optical engineering, nanotechnology, quantum science, and organic photonics.

The Centre of Light for Life (CLL) at IPAS was well-represented by , , and PhD candidate , who showcased their cutting-edge research to an international audience.

Professor Kishan Dholakia chaired the session Optical Trapping and Optical Micromanipulation XXI (Conference 13112), leading discussions on the latest advancements in the field.

Dr Chris Perrella delivered a remarkable presentation titled "Optical Tweezers for Microrheology of the Cumulus Matrix in a Microlitre Volume," where he introduced innovative techniques using optical tweezers to measure the viscosity of the cumulus matrix surrounding mammalian eggs (oocytes). This work holds significant potential as a marker for oocyte health.

Alexander Trowbridge presented his research on the "Geometric Interpretation of Radiation Pressure," exploring the effects of radiation pressure generated by structured light, particularly focusing on Laguerre-Gaussian modes.

Their participation and presentations highlight the pioneering work at the 最新糖心Vlog of Adelaide and reinforce our institute and the CLL's global impact in photonics research. We congratulate Professor Dholakia, Dr Perrella, and Alexander Trowbridge for their contributions to this prestigious international conference.
