The ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlog of Adelaide delegation and guests with the Vietnamese delegation, including His Excellency Mr Bui Thanh Son and His Excellency Mr Pham Hung Tam.

The ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlog of Adelaide recently hosted a significant delegation from Vietnam, which included His Excellency Mr Bui Thanh Son, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam, and His Excellency Mr Pham Hung Tam, Ambassador of Vietnam to ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlog.

The Vietnamese delegation met with senior ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlog of Adelaide executives, including The Hon Catherine Branson AC SC, Chancellor, and Professor John Williams AM, Provost and Acting Vice-Chancellor, and heard a presentation from Ms Thu Nguyen, President of the . Representatives from UniSA, including Professor David Lloyd, Vice Chancellor, and Ms Gabrielle Rolan, Pro Vice-Chancellor: International, also attended the meeting.

Education has played a key role between Vietnam and ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlog since diplomatic relations began, with Vietnam now one of ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlog’s top tier partners following the signing of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in March this year.

The Comprehensive Strategic Partnership aims to support expanded cooperation between ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlog and Vietnam on climate, environment and energy, digital transformation, and innovation, and build on established collaboration across defence and security, economic engagement, education and development assistance. ​

The ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlog of Adelaide has a proud history of collaboration with Vietnam, with an expanding profile involving partnerships and relationships across the country that enable diverse education and research initiatives such as the Train-the-Trainer Program and carbon removal project.

In 2024, Vietnam is the ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlog's fourth largest international market for commencing award students, and one of the most popular destinations for ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlog of Adelaide students on New Colombo Plan mobility programs.

A ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlog of Adelaide Senior Executive Mission also recently visited Vietnam in August, meeting with the National Economics ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlog (NEU), Vietnam National ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlog, and Vietnam Ministry of Education and Training.

During the visit, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed with NEU, formalising our commitment to build mutual research, innovation and education capabilities, bring together transdisciplinary teams to tackle complex global challenges, and train the research leaders of tomorrow. The ×îÐÂÌÇÐÄVlog of Adelaide also co-presented a Sustainable Futures Showcase Seminar with NEU, which brought together thought leaders, experts, and stakeholders from both institutions and industry to discuss and exchange ideas on key issues related to sustainability, such as energy and climate change, green technology, circular economy, and sustainable development.
