The course delivers the final preparation of senior veterinary students for entry into post-graduate life. This course will prepare students for the transition from coursework of the DVM 2 year through the workplace-based learning in the DVM 3 year and on to entry into the veterinary profession. Students will work through cases as an introduction into final year. Further development of clinical communication skills and financial and business awareness will occur. Seminars on what to expect and how to prepare for work as a practitioner will be presented. End of program final examinations will occur in the final weeks of the year.

    Topics in the course will be presented in 4 1-week blocks across the final year. Content will be presented in the form of all day seminars, workshops, and a field trip. Timetabling of content will be coordinated each year with the core clinical rotations and elective topic to optimise learning.

    Assessment Detail
    All assessment items will be standard set for competency and the marks used to calculate the composite score adjusted according to standard setting. Students are required to attain an overall composite score from all assessment tasks equal to or greater than the minimum level of competency to achieve an NGP. Students who narrowly miss meeting the required standard to achieve an NGP may be offered some form of additional assessment.

    Written examination (50%): Students will undertake two 3hr theory examinations at the end of year based on the course syllabus.

    Practical Examination (50%): Students will undertake a practical examinationat the end of the year.
    Submission
    If an extension is not applied for, or not granted then a penalty for late submission will apply. A mark of zero will be allocated to late submitted assessment.
