PROF 3886 - Undergraduate International Study Tour

North Terrace Campus - Summer - 2018

Having a global mindset and perspective is important to increase your cultural awareness and build your international networks. The International Study Course provides a means by which students practice discipline related thinking in an international environment. During the Study Tour, students will attend academic seminars, group work, industry and government visits and cultural activities. Students will be required to complete two (2) Career Development components prior to undertaking the Study Tour. These modules can be done either online or in a workshop depending on the timing of your Study Tour. The Career Development modules are designed to help you best prepare for your Study Tour and cover topics of; cultural preparation, articulating the benefits to potential employers and making the most of your experience. The detailed program and itinerary varies depending on the calendar month and academic leader. The course will run intensively over 1-3 weeks.     The information below is provided as a guide to assist students in engaging appropriately with the course requirements.

    The course will commence with a compulsory four hour workshop with the Teaching Staff where relevant theoretical concepts, analytical frameworks and reference sources will be outlined and the assessable requirements identified.

    The course will then take place over a number of consecutive full days at the destination of the tour, which may include industry visits.

    In addition to the scheduled contact, students are required to undertake sufficient research, group and individual study hours, and assessment preparation to make up the balance of the 156 hour minimum workload for this course.

    Submission
    • Cover Sheet: Please submit, separate to your assignment, the completed providing details of yourself and your team members (if applicable), your assignment, the course, date submitted, etc. as well as the declaration signed by you that this is your (your team’s) work. Note that the declaration on any electronically submitted assignment will be deemed to have the same authority as a signed declaration.
    • Backup Copy of Assignments: You are advised to keep a copy of your assignments in case the submitted copy goes missing. Please ensure that all assignment pages are numbered. If your assignment contains confidential information, you should discuss any concerns with the Course Teaching Staff prior to submission.
    • Extensions on Assessments:  An application for Assessment Extension should be made well before the due date of the assignment to the Course Lecturer.  Normally, extensions will only be granted for a maximum of two weeks from the original assignment submission date.  Extensions will only be granted in cases of genuine medical, compassionate or extenuating circumstances.
    • Failure to submit: Failure to submit an assignment on time or by the agreed extension deadline may result in penalties and may incur a fail grade. Note that a late penalty of 5% of the total available marks for that assessment item will be incurred each day an assignment is handed in late. Assignments handed in after 14 days from the due submission date will fail even if a 100% mark is granted for the work.
