    1. Describe the architecture of web applications including the roles of clients and servers; and the use of protocols for interaction
    2. Design user interfaces for web applications based on UI design principles
    3. Manipulate and manage data from database and web applications
    4. Identify and discuss basic security and confidentiality issues in the development of web applications
    5. Interpret online web programming documentation (e.g., APIs, tutorials)
    6. Implement a program that makes use of key components of web applications:
      • User interface with client-side programming
      • Server-side programming
      • Data interchange formats
      • Structuring, storing and retrieving data from a database
      • Use of public APIs for interacting with other sources of web data

    Assignments will be subject to the following late penalty policy:

    • The maximum mark that can be awarded will reduce by 25% for each day/part day late,

    Extensions for Assignments

    If you are unable to complete an assessment by the due date because of medical or compassionate circumstances, you must submit a request to the course coordinator prior to the due date. In your request, you must attach supporting documentation – a medical certificate and/or a letter from the student counselling service. Work requirements are not considered grounds for extensions. If you are working, please make sure you are available for all activities.
